THIS EVENT HAS NOW TAKEN PLACE
It is an honour to welcome back to Harrogate the world-renowned pianist Alfred Brendel, whose place among the great pianists of the 20th and 21st centuries is assured. In this unique lecture Brendel distils a lifetime of musical knowledge, from how to tackle the extremes of the repertoire to how best to stifle a cough during a recital.
“Looking back at sixty years of giving concerts, making records, and writing, I realised that I should put some order into my thoughts and collect concepts, from A to Z. My lecture will try to convey some of a thinking pianist’s concerns: music, composers, instruments and the public, balance, cohesion, and even love and humour.” - Alfred Brendel
